Check airflow first — really
Most Samsung heating codes start with poor airflow. The dryer gets too hot inside, the safety devices trip, and heat shuts off. Here's how to check in five minutes:
- Clean the lint screen — and wash it with warm, soapy water if dryer sheets have left a waxy film. Hold it up to a faucet: water should pass through.
- Look behind the dryer. Flexible foil duct crushed against the wall is a common culprit, especially after the dryer was pushed back.
- Go outside while it runs. The flap on the vent hood should open and you should feel strong airflow. Weak air means a clog somewhere in the run.
- Power-cycle the dryer. Unplug it (or flip the breaker) for a few minutes after clearing any restriction, then start a timed dry.
In the Tri-Cities, fine dust blows into vent hoods and mixes with lint, so vent runs pack faster than in wetter climates. Long runs to the roof in two-story homes are the worst offenders.

Electric Samsung dryers
- Heating element — the coil inside the heater housing breaks, often after a stretch of overheating. It's among the most common Samsung dryer repairs we make.

- Gas valve coils — igniter glows, then shuts off without lighting the burner.
- Flame sensor — burner lights briefly then goes out, or never lights.
Remember that a blown thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat is usually a symptom. We always clear or confirm the vent before replacing them so the new part doesn't blow in a month.
Is a Samsung dryer worth repairing?
